Without a doubt my favorite movie of 2011 is/was/will likely always be Drive. A movie that can be summed up easily with one single word: cool. If you need more words then I can expand that to: awesomely stylishly violently cool as fucking hell. Gosling’s nameless nearly mute main character decked out in denim looks just as badass chewing on a toothpick as he does crushing your skull under his boot. Albert Brooks nearly steals the movie as a cold and brutal gangster. Christina Hendricks shows up for a few minutes and wears tight pants. There are Muscle cars! Weird masks! Hammers! Satin Jackets with Scorpions! Driving Gloves! Elctropop! Revenge! Walt from Breaking Bad! Carey Mulligan being cute as hell! It is a movie that gives me everything I like from my cult classics. It fucking rules.
